Taste of Hudson Valley Bounty Dinner, The Locavore’s Culinary Event of the Season

Chatham, NY - On Monday, August 6th from 5-8pm, the culinary event of the season will take place when the Taste of Hudson Valley Bounty dinner serves up great food at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. This annual get together is a showcase for all that is great about food in the Hudson Valley. Matchmakers from the Bounty program are putting together terrific area chefs with produce contributed from equally expert farmers in the region.

Attendees of the highly-anticipated event will sample fare created by local chefs using Hudson Valley products. Last year, over 30 chefs and farmers participated; serving tastes to over 250 people and enjoying the opportunity to get to know other Hudson Valley chefs, farmers, and customers in a festive environment.

The event will feature “tastes” of over 30 different delightful recipes including everything from appetizers and salads to main courses, desserts and even wines and beers. “The night will be filled with excellent cuisine,” says Program Director Kristin Roca, “The whole point of this event is to let the public know what a great assortment of local food is available right in our own backyard and which great restaurants and chef’s are using them regularly. ”

Each year chefs have created some exquisite recipes for the Taste of Dinner and this year is turning out to be as exciting as ever with several new chefs on board and previous favorites returning. The Crimson Sparrow, Helsinki Hudson, Local 111, Vanderbilt House, The Beekman Arms, Gigi Hudson Valley, Stissing House, Blue Plate, Cascades and the Old Chatham Country Store are just a few of the amazing restaurants participating. There will be over twenty different chefs preparing dishes along with local wineries and breweries showcasing their products.

Hudson Valley Bounty, a program of the Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation, has a mission to educate the community about the preservation of local farms through the purchase and use of local and regional sustainable foods and products throughout the entire Hudson Valley. The program also promotes and supports networking connections between local agricultural producers and culinary businesses. And that is what the Taste of Hudson Valley Bounty Dinner is all about. This is the culinary event of the season for Locavores and a “must” for foodies, passionate cooks, and gardeners. Sponsors this year include Ginsberg’s, Wells Fargo Advisors, Hudson Catskill Newspapers, Mid Hudson Cable and NY air.
