Summer Winding Down

Wow! Summer sure did come and go fast. Hudson Valley Bounty ended the summer by showcasing some of Dutchess County’s most delicious producers at the 164th annual Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck. Our booth in the Distinctively Dutchess tent was adorned with terrific folks and their delicious products and goods. We hope you were able to sample the bitters from Dutch’s Spirits and the fabulous chocolate milk from Ronnybrook Farm. My Brother Bobby’s Salsa offered a variety of salsa and bruschetta to temp your taste palate and Crown Maple brought the sweetness of their own maple syrup. The weekend brought samples of a traditional summer favorite, tomatoes in juice form by the folks from Migliorelli Farm and closing out the fair for us was Wild Hive Bakery with tastes of wonderful baked goods along with flour, whole grains and polenta for sale. We are very grateful to all the producers for joining us and to the Dutchess County Fair for helping to make this happen.

Even though a lot of the summer busy festivities are now past us, the fall is looking to be just as busy. Not only does Hudson Valley Bounty have an exciting event around the corner but the fall harvest is looking to be plentiful and delicious.

Please join us on Saturday, October 6th at the Henry Hudson Park in Hudson for Hudson Valley Bounty’s Annual Chili Fest. The event begins at 12pm and the day will be filled with delicious chili made with all of your favorite fixings. In addition to awesome chili, the Thunder Ridge band will be playing on the bank of the Hudson River. So come out between 12 and 4 to enjoy some delicious chili, excellent entertainment and good friends.

Did you know that apples are New York’s largest fruit crop? The valley is full of orchards with many varieties hanging from the trees in beautiful pink, yellows and reds. Unfortunately, the orchards may be plentiful but apples may not be for as long as normal. According to the USDA, due to a late frost this spring, apple production is down 48%. So search for a local orchard near you and enjoy this beautiful weather and delicious harvest. We hope to see you out there soon enjoying the Bounty of the Valley just as much as we do!
